Creating message filters:

Message filters help you organize your e-mail before you read it or even see it.  When configured, message filters will check your e-mail for names, words, senders, etc. and forward them to a specified folder or even delete the message for you automatically.

There are a variety of filters you can create.  In this example, we'll create a rule that moves certain e-mails to the folder we created in the "Folders" tutorial:  "Family".  Follow these steps:

On the Toolbar, click Tools, select Mail filtering rules, and then Create/edit general rule set from the pop-out menu.

The Select a filtering rule set window opens.

Here you can modify, create, rename, and delete rules.

Click New to create a new filter.

Long (friendly) name for item  =  Give the new rule a name.  In this example I gave the rule the name "Family".

Click OK when finished.

The filter now appears in the box.

Highlight the filter and click the Open button.

The following window appears:

Click the Add rule button to create a filter.

The Creating a new filtering rule window appears.

Click the Headers button.

If any of these headers:

Select the options From and Sender.

Contains this text:

Enter an e-mail address of a family member.  In this example, we entered "grandma@ispname.com".

Then do this:

Action  = Select the Move option from the drop-down menu.

Click the Set...  button.

The Select mail folder window opens.

Double click the folder to which you'd like Pegasus to move your e-mail.

The Parameter now shows the name of the folder you selected.  In this case "Family".

Click OK when finished.

We return to the following window:

The new rule now appears in the list of rules.  Any e-mail that "grandma@ispname.com" sends will be forwarded automatically to the "Family" folder.

Click the Close button.

The This rule set has been modified window opens.

Click the Save button to save the new rule.
